Community Mayan Fire Ceremony - Celebrating the changing of Seasons

with Nana Xochiketzalli, AqQ’ij. (If weather permits and the altar is not flooded, we will gather for a Mayan Fire Ceremony, otherwise indoors for a song circle and chanupa ceremony.)

Free gathering to honor the coming of winter and celebrate the Winter Solstice.

The ceremony will start with a 7 direction prayer and then move onto a platica about the Mayan Cosmovision. The fire will then be built using no wood, but only ofrendas, such as copal, candles, chocolate, and roses. Then everyone lights the fire and the ceremony begins with the counting of the 20 nahuales.
